Editorial policy

hairstylistapproved.com publishes product reviews written from a working stylist’s point of view. Products are chosen because they are relevant to a category, frequently recommended behind the chair, requested by readers, or already part of a stylist’s kit.

How products are selected

We prioritize products that readers are already comparing: salon staples, prestige beauty bestsellers, clean haircare lines, and formulas that solve a specific hair concern. A product can be included whether or not it has an affiliate program.

How rankings are decided

The reviewer ranks products before affiliate links are added. Rankings are based on the reviewer’s real use of the product, the hair types it serves, and whether the formula does what it claims. A higher commission never earns a higher slot.

Brand relationships

If a reviewer has a paid relationship with a brand whose product appears in a review, that relationship is disclosed on the relevant review pages and in our affiliate disclosure. The relationship does not automatically exclude the product; it gives readers context for evaluating the recommendation.

Updates

Reviews are updated when a ranking changes, a formula changes, a product is discontinued, a better product enters the category, or the reviewer has new real-world experience that materially changes the recommendation. We do not change dates only to look fresh in search results.

If we make a factual mistake, email hello@hairstylistapproved.com. We review correction requests and update the page when a correction is warranted.
